Your First Visit & Exam

When you arrive, we’ll offer you herbal tea or spring water and introduce you to one of Dr. Barney’s assistants. Please bring your completed new patient forms for prompt check-in. The assistant will review your forms and discuss the type of care you’d like – preventive, cosmetic, neuromuscular, or restorative. We’ll ask questions about your smile and whether you experience chronic headaches or sleep issues. Following a discussion of the services we provide, the assistant will take digital X-rays to update your records.

Dr. Barney will review your diagnostic images and perform a full examination of your smile, including teeth, gums, bite, and jaw. If you’re interested in cosmetic dentistry, we’ll take digital pictures of your teeth, conduct a thorough bite analysis, and create a smile preview with our digital imaging software. Dr. Barney and the assistant will relay the findings from your exam and discuss how best to proceed to achieve a beautiful, healthy smile. A dental cleaning typically follows.

Scheduling

We value your time, and we know that you want to be seen promptly. Our front-office team schedules appointments to accommodate our clients’ busy schedules. If your time is limited, we offer longer appointments to complete most or all of your dental work in a single session.

Dr. Barney conducts complimentary cosmetic dentistry, neuromuscular dentistry, and implant dentistry consultations to inform clients of their options and aid in decisions beneficial to short- and long-term dental health.
