Neuromuscular Dentures: The Art & Science of Quality Replacement Teeth

Imagine wearing dentures that fit well and feel great. Dentures wearers often complain of pain or of denture slippage at the most inopportune times. They feel that their dentures don’t look natural, either, so they stop smiling.

Dr. Barney offers neuromuscular dentures to improve the look, feel, and function of smiles. Let us design your dentures, and you’ll experience newfound confidence, as well as freedom from discomfort and embarrassment. Dr. Barney has studied the concepts of neuromuscular dentistry extensively at the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies (LVI), an institution devoted to higher education and patient-focused dental concepts and procedures. He is one of only 300 dentists in the world who have accomplished Fellowship with LVI.

To create neuromuscular dentures, Dr. Barney evaluates computer-generated information about the jaw joints and occlusion. He uses a TENS unit to stimulate and relax the patient’s jaw muscles so that optimal bite position can be recorded. Then, with this measurement of proper occlusion, Dr. Barney designs dentures that will position the jaws for optimal function. This makes for a denture that is held firmly in place by the soft tissues of the cheeks.

After being fitted with neuromuscular dentures, one patient said (with a big, beautiful smile), "I ate steak last night for the first time in ages!"

Establishing the bite and identifying functional problems fall into the scientific part of the equation. Artistry comes into play when designing the features of your replacement teeth. Dr. Barney studies the smallest details of tooth placement, size, color, and dimensions to create beautiful, natural-looking prosthetics.
